RVing is one of the most eco-friendly ways to explore the United States.
In fact, compared to flying and staying in hotels, RV tourism is much easier on
the environment.
The reason has to do with efficiency. RV travelers tend to use water
more carefully, invest in energy-saving devices, and find ways to minimize
their carbon footprints. After all, RVers are united in their love of the great
outdoors—discovering ways to travel greener is always worth the effort. Here
are a few of our favorite green RVing tips:
- Buy solar panels. More and
more RVers are investing in solar panels, which are convenient sources of
energy when hookups aren’t readily available. Even better, solar panels pay for
themselves after a few months of use.
- Recycle when you can. Many RV
campgrounds in Kemah, TX, and elsewhere
feature recycling facilities for guests, but not every park does. If you don’t
mind saving your recyclables for your next stop, it’s a great way to promote
sustainability.
- Minimize waste. When you’re
traveling, it can be tempting to invest in disposable plates and utensils. But
the truth is that plastic and even paper disposables end up in landfills. Use
washable dishes and flatware when you can and looks for parks that offer
washing areas.
